Comenius meeting: November 9th, Farewell in the old city

It was already time to leave for our Italian and Irish friends. We didn't play music this time. We had a cultural and peaceful walk in the old city centre of Lyon.
We met in the Bellecour square, which is the biggest pedestrian square in Europe (bigger than the Red square in Moscow) ! In its centre stands a statue of Lewis the 14th dressed as a Roman emperor. The statue was made in the XIXth century: the original one was destroyed during the French revolution.

Then, we went to Saint-Jean quarter, the oldest part of the city. Its name comes from the cathedral Saint John the baptist. It is full of narrows streets, medieval buildings and "traboules", which are small passages through buildings to connect one street to another.

We even found a shop which spoke about our project ("Venice in Lyon").
To end our meeting, we decided to have an urban hike and climb up to the top of Fourvière hill. Thus, we enjoyed :

stairs ...

more stairs ...

 and some others stairs !
Finally, we arrived and it was worthy: the scenery was magnificent. We could see all the city and even the white mount and the Alps. A beautiful place to say goodbye indeed !
See you soon in Ireland !
