The Vald-orchestra in Italy : our first European experience Part 1

Monday the 15th : the departure and the arrival in Venice
Some of us fear the plane and the landing, but the flight was nice. When we discover Venice, we are astonished. At the opposite, the path to the hostel is a bad memory for many of us : why is there so many bridges with numerous steps ? It is really hard to carry our luggages ! It looks endless: Mayssane thinks that there are more than ten bridges but actually there are 6 ...  Fortunately, we arrive in Santa Fosca, a little and charming youth hostel. Moreover, a delicious pizza cheers us up.

Tuesday the 16th : the discovery of Venice and the the arrival in Pordenone
A wonderful day ! We love the vaporetto on the Canal grande. We admire the magnificent Palazzo ducale, we contemplate the beautiful Basilica San Marco and we enjoy the scenery at the top of the campanile. But we also like to do shopping around the Rialto bridge. Inès admires the masks. Solène really appreciates to wander around only by feet without any car.The journey to Pordenone is peaceful. However, the hotel in the city is really impressive : it rocks ! Once again the restaurant is really good.

Wednesday the 17th : our first common rehearsals and sight-seeing tour around Fiume Veneto
What a warm welcome ! The school of our partner is nicely decorated and everybody seems to be looking forward to know more about us. We have a little stage fright before the first rehearsals but finally, it is the best moment of the day. It gives confidence for the concert and above all we manage to share our feelings beyond our differences. The has been prepared by the families : it is very tasty. We truly appreciate.

Afterwards, we go for a short trip in the neighbourhood in order to see three of the most significant places of the region : Sesto al Reghena, Valvasone, San Vito in Tagliamento. Some uf us find it less intense and thus interesting, even if we have good memories such as the moment we spend in the hidden theatre of San Vito where M. Nevoret plays the piano and we sing a Zebda's song.
Before dinner we rest a bit on the main square, then we have a traditional friulan meal.
