The Vald-orchestra in Italy : our first European experience part II

Thursday the 18th : the concert
Almost unanimously the best day of our trip : the first concert of the European orchestra. After a last and short rehearsal, we play and sing together in front of a public composed by pupils and teachers. What a success ! It is such a great feeling to share our music, to discover the work of our friends and to play in a large band with people who were strangers three days ago. We play a piece of Vivaldi (the largo of the Winter in the Four Seasons), Verdi (the triumphal march of Aïda) and a traditionnal song (O pinota).  We especially like to sing with our friends the hymn of the project : all is possible. Mayssane shows her talent of rapper. Our teachers try the Irish dances : some are more gifted than others ...

After a short lunch at the canteen, we record the pieces and the song for the cd of the project.
At the end of the afternoon, we have free time in Pordenone which reveals to be a very cute small town with a nice city centre.

In the evening, we have a quiet and sweet farewell party.

Friday the 19th : the come back in Venice and the visit of the Fenice
We leave Pordenone by train with a huge group of Italian pupils. We have a pleasant walk through narrow streets and canals. We have a picnic in a park near San Marco Square. We have a tour guide of the Fenice. This theatre is really impressive. We dream a bit in the royal box ... Mr Nevoret and Mrs Rougeon are lucky : they can attend a rehearsal of the next show (the marriage of Figaro). We say goodbye to our new friends in front of the theatre : see you in France in fall ! We enjoy for a last time the Venetian lifestyle : ice-cream at the Zaterre, amateur concert in a small square, staring at boats on the Academia bridge, shopping in the strada nuova, dinner beneath the stars in a trattoria next to the water.

Saturday the 20th : Back to France
First day of rain : a good moment for coming back. We are happy to see our family. However, we are very happy of our experience and we are looking forward to live the next.
